Work party report – 3rd October, 2026

At the plot today, we checked what crops were still yielding and harvested what we needed.

Starting at the furthest end from the café, the runner beans are still yielding but, we’ve collectively decided that what’s left will be used as seeds for next year. When the runner beans are taken down, some work is needed to strengthen the frame. Any help and advice with doing this will be greatly appreciated:)

A number of crops have been netted over the last few weeks to stop the birds shredding them!

The spinach and rainbow chard are both yielding. Please help yourself as we can’t keep up with them!

The Aztec broccoli is getting close to the end as the stems are getting woody.

The courgette plant is still flowering and there are courgettes so, this still has a few weeks to run:)

As well as checking the crops and harvesting, some tidying up work on the back path was undertaken. A couple of loose slabs were fixed. All things being equal, the intention is to undertake some serious maintenance on the slabs on the path over the winter. As the for grass paths, the intention is to strim them towards the end of this month.
